Windows Server 2008 – How to use NETDOM – The Visual Guide

Here’s a crib sheet to getting Netdom to work.  Firstly the /d is for domain, which is (in DNS notation).  We use the query command to find out more about the network, like an attacker.

Step 1 – Netdom to locate workstations

netdom query / WORKSTATION

netdom workstations

Step 2 – Locate the Domain Controller

netdom query / DC

netdom dc

Step 3 – Locate any FSMO (Flexible Single Master Operations)

netdom query / FSMO

netdom fsmo

Step 4 –  Locate all Servers in a domain

netdom query / SERVER
