Redhat Linux: How to install the UK keyboard


If you’ve installed Redhat then you’ll probably be struggling with a UK keyboard in command line mode.

Step 1 – Configure a UK keyboard via the command line

loadkeys uk

uk keyboard red hat

Now you’ll have a UK keyboard on Redhat in text mode.

If you want X or GUI mode, then try out:

setxkbmap uk


KALI LINUX – To get a UK keyboard

Step 1 -Open a Terminal

dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

debian UK keyboard

Step 2 – 105 Key International Keyboard

Tab  (takes you to the OK button)

Step 3 – Other (to access the UK options)

tab  = (OK)

debian uk other

 Step 4 – English (UK)

Tab (to OK)

debian uk option

Step 5 – English (UK) with Extended WINKEYS

Tab (OK)

Step 6 – Default for the Keyboard

Tab (OK)

debian default for keyboardKeep going, with the OK tab, and it that’s it.
